3 Reasons Why You Keep Getting Infected With Spyware

It seems like the battle against spyware is a never ending one, an epic battle with new enemies and new ways to fight them everyday.  Caught inthe middle, you’re PC! Held hostage is your productivity, your peace of mind, your freedom. Ok, maybe we made it sound a little more out of control than it really is but the reality is that every day, on every computer repair shops desk is at least one computer that is totally infected by spyware.  The methods have changed, the types of infections have changed but there are three main reasons why this battle rages on and on.

1. There are way too many new strains of spyware coming out to possibly stop.  Since spyware removal and detection relies on people first getting infected there is almost no way to completely stop it.  The way spyware removal software works is people get infected first, then the spyware removal companies find out about the new type or types, how to cure it and prevent it, how to update their software, and how to push it out to the web.  This all has to happen before you ever are protected in general against new types of spyware and that is why the vast majority of people who do get infected end up with all the latest ones.

2. Some spyware attacks your system in ways that you agree to.  For example, many free software suites have attached programs in their install process that are automatically checked to be installed.  You literally agree to be infected in exchange for some free software.  These types of spyware are not typically the most dangerous but they are still spyware in a lot of ways.  Take time when you install programs, do not simply click next over and over again because you may unknowingly install some spyware you don’t want.  In most cases, unless we tell you otherwise there is no such thing as free.

3. You, yes you! We cannot tell you how much repeat business comes across our desk, the same people with the same old spyware infections.  The reason is people do not change their habits and there are really two people to blame for this.  The computer repair shops need to be educating their customers on how they are getting infected, with over ten years in the business believe us when we say it will NOT hurt your business.
The second reason is people refuse to change their ways.  Countless times within 24 hours customers call back with the same infection they had before and much to our dismay after getting the computer back on our desks we find the same music and movie pirating software installed that got them infected in the first place!

The saying goes, he who fails to learn from history is doomed to repeat it and this is totally true when it comes to spyware.  It breaks our heart to have to charge customers twice in a week but the reality is we have no choice.  If you took your car in for repair after you backed into your mailbox, they got it all fixed up nice and you paid your bill and went home.  Then the very next day you back into the mailbox again, would you expect them to fix it for free?  This is the analogy we always use when it comes to charging twice, and the story we always tell to try and get people to learn from their mistakes.

Take heed of these warnings they will help you break the spyware cycle we promise you that.
