Save Gas By Offering Remote Support

remote support 300x171 Save Gas By Offering Remote Support

Gas prices aren’t cheap like they used to be, and there doesn’t seem to be any hope of them returning to what they we’re either. This has us as technical professionals that are depended upon by many, paying  a rather ugly gas bill.

If we can save how much gas we use, we can focus on the more important expenses at hand. What if I told you that the solution has been put here right in front of your eyes, and you may have easily overlooked it.

Discover Friendly Technological Advances

Believe it or not, I still come upon a lot of other who claim to provide computer repair services, but they simply aren’t acquainted with the most recent technological advances. There have been a lot of friendly solutions developed that helps mmake the lives of IT professionals much less stressful than before.

One of these happens to be one that we highlighted recently. Remote support if you want to get down right to it. Let’s see how you can use it to your advantage (and your customer’s advantage as well).

Many problems are simple mistakes/errors that you can solve just by hacking a little bit.

In fact, some may actually be false alerts, but they just happened to give your client a heart attack as they could have came at a better time. For us, this is a daily occurence  most of the time. By remotely gaining control of your customer’s computer, you can diagnose and repair most computer problems. Nah, don’t worry bout getting dressed and getting to their house, fix it right there in the comfort of your own home, if this is where you choose to do so of course.

Does the simplicity amaze you?

Well, it should, as we progress with a more improved technological environment, it gets easier for those of us who actually work smarter instead of harder, literally speaking. :)

What makes the best computer repair technician is the ability to adapt quickly in the fast-paced world powered by technology that surrounds us. Once a tech can grasp that lifestyle, they can just about conquer anything.

Hopefully you will use this opportunity to your advantage. In order to help you understand what remote support applications are out there, we will roll out a couple of reviews this week.

An Alternative To Interns: High School Students

high schooler 300x200 An Alternative To Interns: High School Students

Recently, I did a post on how you could use interns to grow your computer repair business. Maybe that interested you, and maybe it just didn’t grab your attention at all.

Well, I’m here to show you another option that doesn’t involve college students at all. I’m talking about high school students who want a job so that they can earn a little extra money to spend.

Curious yet? I know you are. :)

High School Students Aren’t Expensive To Hire

They are actually pretty flexible in terms of the expense of having them on your staff is concerned. You’re providing them with an opportunity to let them work for a few extra dollars they can depend on, as well as helping them build up their work experience for when they are looking for a job when they get older.

Hire Them On Part Time & Keep Them Happy

When we were told that we need to treated others as we wish to be treated, it couldn’t be any more true than it is in the business world. Most high school students just want a part-time job, which is great for you.

They are younger and they need the time to go have fun with their friends. Keep them happy and you will quickly realize that they could become a great asset for your computer repair company.

One Great Opportunity You Have

What is it? You say. Well, the high school students don’t really appeal to cutting yards in the middle of the summer. By providing them with a comfortable place to work inside, you’re assuring that they are going to help become even better workers. The reason for this is that when it’s hot, and they sit under the ac for a few hours, they won’t be worried about how much they dislike  being hot and sweaty.

When it comes down to it…

This could be a great way to get some laborers hired onto your company, thus helping you bill out more hours than you could by yourself. More money for your business will truly help you become financially solid in your personal life as well. A growing company that can meet the demands of the technologically advanced world we live in today, is a company that has a rock solid future.

One Failure That Haunts Small Businesses: Not Harnessing The Power of Networking

networking 300x225 One Failure That Haunts Small Businesses: Not Harnessing The Power of Networking

Sure, we all get busy, especially when we are working in an industry that literally never stops demanding our attention. The business of our lives often leads to forgetting some of the most important things that can help us make our business even more rewarding for us in the long run.

One thing that I noticed a lot of computer repair companies forget is the help that networking can provide us with. When we go out an network with others, we increase the prominence of not only ourselves, but our business within the community (or communities) that we serve.

The Big Guys In The Industry Always Network

This is definitely far from being a secret. Many big corporations, even those who aren’t in the line of work that we’re in, have individuals dedicated to keeping their presence known by networking with residents and businesses in the areas that they serve.

Networking Is Only As Hard As You Make It

This is the truth, I do business in a small town, and when I say small, I mean it. The town that I’m in has LESS than 5,000 people. However, I wouldn’t know the difference since I have had the opportunity to meet many people during the few months that I have been here establishing my company.

Even in the smallest of towns, there are always social events that you can partake in. These social events provide you with the opportunity to share what it is exactly that you have to provide others. Thus leading in an increased awareness of you and your computer repair business.

Joining Related Organizations Can Help You Have An Even More Solid Reputation

Organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce are a great place to start. By being active in community and national organizations, you’re proving to those around you that you are serious when it comes to business.

Most consumers will often do business with a company who has established their presence wisely over a company that just passes out a few business cards here and there.

Networking Summarized

The whole purpose of network is to meet others who you can instill excitement on about your company as well as what you do. The MORE people that you can draw interest from will eventually result in an increased amount of success. The power of networking shall now be something that you shouldn’t ever forget. :)

Don’t Underestimate The Value of Interns

internship 296x300 Dont Underestimate The Value of Interns

When it comes to having an extra pair of hands around, you just might be surprised how much you could increase the revenue of your computer repair company. One thing that we often overlook are the obvious things which could help us take our companies to the next level.

Internships is one method of obtaining the workforce needed in order to fulfill the growing demands of computer users. Many people may think it’s too complicated while others think they are too small to even have a chance when it comes to obtaining interns.

Let’s dig into this a little bit, so that some of the common internship misconceptions can be revealed.

Start off by calling your local institution for higher education.

This could be a tech school, university, or community college. By reaching out to them in hopes of learning more about what they require from internship opportunities, you’re putting the word out that your company wants to help students gain real-world experience.

Now that you know what you have to do in order to offer internships, think about whether it’s going to be paid or unpaid.

Some students will simply work for free just to gain the needed experience related to their field of study. While others also want to earn a little bit of extra money to live on while going to college.

This is where you need to decide if they’re help will be financially compensated or if you just want to offer an unpaid internship. The most loyal interns are usually the ones wanting a paycheck, so this is something that you should keep in mind.

Hiring An Intern Is Like Hiring A Paid Hand

It’s actually no different, except that you have the opportunity to obtain help from someone who is actually undergoing IT training, versus hiring someone that you may have to fully train yourself.

Make sure that when you’re going through the interested students that you evaluate how they will benefit your company as you would any other employee. Neglecting this aspect could hurt you in the long run.

Remember, everyone can get an intern if the want to.

All it amounts to is putting forth the necessary work. Having an intern (or maybe even more than one) can put your company in a better position than it was before. In fact, you may be able to expand your company by having those extra hands around when you need them. :)

Understanding The Importance of Marketing Locally

skyline Understanding The Importance of Marketing Locally

When it comes to provide IT related services, youw own backyard can end up becoming the most valuable asset for any company or IT professional. Many times, people fail to realize that local marketing could be what turns their business into one that becomes well reputed.

With that said, I decided to go over a few key factors that actually could help you take your computer repair company to the next level by targeting those within your community that can take advantage of what you have to offer.

Local Businesses May Not Have The Needed Resources

This is especially true when you’re in a smaller town that doesn’t have any computer repair company to turn their needs over to. Networking with other local businesses can earn you a consistent flow of work, as long as you do it in a manner that promotes your IT company as a respected and experienced business that can take care of their needs efficiently.

Local Citizens May Need Some Work Done

You can use flyers or some other means of advertising your  computer repair services to local residents. Many times, they don’t understand what options they have available to them. When you put your business in front of their face constantly, people will tend to remember that they can use you in order to take care of any technology related services that you’re offering.

Donating Your Time Could Help Improve Your Local Reputation As An IT Professional

By donating your time to local churches and other non-profit organizations, you’re simply showing that you actually do care. This can not only gain you referrals from those that you donate your services too, but it will also help increase your reputation within the community. This could be what sets you apart from your competitors, especially if you combine it with other thoughtful marketing tactics.

Helping Others Learn About Technology Could Be What Makes You A Distinguished Computer Repair Company

It’s no longer a secret that most computer repair companies refuse to teach consumers the most basic things about technology. Most feel that this will decrease the amount of work that is made available to them. However, an educated consumer will feel secure about their buying decisions. When you help educate them, they willl remember and when they need something done, they will choose you over those that won’t offer that helping hand.

As you can see, there are many ways to market locally. By all means, these weren’t all of them. However, this was meant to wake you up to the reality of what we need to do as computer repair companies in order to make the world of IT that surrounds us a better one. :)
