‘Ware Wednesdays: Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware

This Wednesday, we turn our attention to the problem of malware. This scourge brings down an increasing number of PCs everyday and there seems to be no end in sight. While you can change some of your browsing habits to prevent getting malware on your machine, it will inevitably creep in to your PC or that of someone you know. Since malware can come in many forms, it’s difficult to know just how it will attack. Last week, McAfee announced at least one million users are victims of scareware everyday. That’s a staggering number. While their infections may not be preventable in all cases, they can be cleaned up easily using the proper utilities. ‘Ware Wednesdays: GIMP – Free Image Editor

As we create a larger presence for ourselves online, many people need ways to edit images. It may be for a blog, a photo sharing site, a Facebook page, even a LinkedIn profile. Since Photoshop costs over $200 dollars and even the stripped down version of Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, is close to $100 dollars, there is a great need to discover a usable and useful alternative. If it didn’t cost nearly as much, that would be a great plus as well. Luckily, there’s a great free image editor called GIMP. GIMP stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program. (more…)
