When it comes to the internet, Google is a name that is automatically known all around the world. I remember when Google was still in their first days as a search engine provider. Now, they are one of the most dominant companies to ever hit the internet to this day.

Now, you probably already know about how powerful Google is. So, I’m not going to touch on that subject. What I’m touching on is the announcement that Google made about their experimental fiber optic network. You can find the blog post on the official Google blog.

When it comes down to it, we all need to have a reality check. Cable companies and telephone companies are seriously taking advantage of consumers that want a piece of the technology pie. When it comes down to it, in many areas you don’t have a choice of who provides high speed internet and they know this, so they take advantage of it.

With that said, I would like to express how much this disappoints me. There are numerous times that I have become the victim of being a consumer where only one company provided decent internet to my home. However, maybe Google is going to enter the market and change things.

This goes to show that even though Google is one of the bigger companies in the IT industry, they don’t forget how valuable it is to have decent internet. While they may be in their experimental change, I have a feeling when they roll this out it will take the nation and the world by storm.

Think about it for a second. How would you like to have internet that has speeds of 1 GBPS. Well, who wouldn’t? If you understand computers, this is truly an innovation in modern technology as we know it today. Once again, Google is showing that they don’t have to wait for anyone to help make progress.
