Changing your username in Windows XP and Vista is a very quick and easy process. Go to the “Start” Menu and select “Control Panel.” Double click on “User Accounts” in the window that opens.

Find the user account you wish to change the name of and click on it. You will be brought to a screen with a number of new options. Select “Change Your Name” and enter the new information in the text box that displays your old user account name. Click “Change Name,” to finish the process.

If you wish to give an account administrative rights or a password, you can do this from the “User Accounts” window as well. Did this tip help you out? Subscribe to our YouTube channel for more great tutorials. Send your PC related questions to Jeremy from Be Your Own IT.
