Limited Or No Connectivity~Unable To Contact DHCP Server~ Hi Everyone at Be Your Own It !!
I am desperate for some HELP...Please? I sure do hope someone can help me out. Ive been trying to fix the problem to no avail & im in DESPERATE need of some expertise to help me Fix this Successfully...please??? The Problem We have a Main Desktop Computer as well as a Lap Top. Both Running WINDOWS XP. The Lap Top is Wireless with a LINKSYS Wireless Card & the Desktop has the MOTOROLA Modem & a LINKSYS Router & we are BROADBAND Connected.
Both were Running just fine & Accessing the Internet just fine until 3 days ago when the Wireless Lap Top suddenly wouldn't connect to the internet & it Popped Up with a Yellow Explanation Mark over the Double Computer Icon in the Bottom Right Task Bar, with Message:" LIMITED OR NO CONNECTIVITY " " THE PROBLEM OCCURRED BECAUSE THE NETWORK DID NOT ASSIGN A NETWORK ADDRESS TO THE COMPUTER ". FIX ATTEMPTS :: There are Several & I Have Put 2 RED ** Next to Each so You can See What & it's Result. ** I did the REPAIR LINK they Provide When Displaying the No Connectivity Message & got Message: " WINDOWS COULD NOT FINISH REPAIRING THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE FOLLOWING ACTION CANNOT BE COMPLETED: RENEWING YOUR IP ADDRESS. CONTACT THE PERSON THAT MANAGES YOUR NETWORK. " ** i checked the EVENT LOG on Both & on the DESKTOP Computer there is 3 Re-occurring Events:
: Event ID 1003 : Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 00045A65B2AE. The following error occurred: The operation was canceled by the user. . Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.
: Event ID 1002 : The IP address lease 192.168.1.100 for the Network Card with network address 00045A65B2AE has been denied by the DHCP server 167.206.3.234 (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK message).
:Event ID 8033 : The browser has forced an election on network \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{0D7F99D4-F8F1-4334-8B8F-A3AEEEB0B3A5} because a master browser was stopped.
& On the WIRELESS LAPTOP, the SAME Event ID 1003 Appears, as well as Event ID 8033 but just with a Different # in parenthesis & then there was Event ID 1007 : Your computer has automatically configured the IP address for the Network Card with Network Address 00045AC94E3A. The IP Address being used is 169.254.45.251** And note that IP Address is not whats normally used. ** I Ran IP CONFIG / ALL on Both & Below I've Attached a Text Document of Each of them & you gotta see the wireless one...its so strange looking !!! ** On the Wireless, I Ran IPCONFIG /RELEASE & IPCONFIG /RENEW & get Message: "UNABLE TO CONTACT YOUR DHCP SERVER. REQUEST TIMED OUT" ** On the Wireless I Ran A Command for REPAIRING THE CORRUPT TCP/IP STACK ~ " netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt " & it Made the Yellow Explanation Mark on the Double Computer Icon, Go Away but We still couldnt get on the internet & now its back. ** i Ran INTERNET EXPLORER REPAIR i get an Error 12007 ** I Ran a Command for RESETTING THE WINSOCK ~ m"netsh winsock reset" & "netsh winsock reset catalog" & restarted, but NADA. ** I Checked that the Following SERVICES were Started on Both the Lap Top & Desktop. If there are Any Others i Need to Check on for sure, Let me Know.
• COM+ Event System • Computer Browser • DHCP Client • DNS Client • Network Connections • Network Location Awareness • Remote Procedure Call (RPC) • Server • TCP/IP Netbios helper • Wireless Zero Configuration • Workstation ** I looked at DEVICE MANAGER on Both to Look for any Red X's & the Desktop is Fine & the WIRELESS Laptop shows under "NETWORK ADAPTERS":
~ 1394 Net Adapter which is fine with No Red X
~ Instant Wireless Network PC Card V2.5 is fine with No Red X
~ Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter (10/100) & THIS DOES HAVE A RED X BUT as far as i can remember it ALWAYS has & when we were able to get online fine. I thought this was the cable we'd use if we wanted to make the wireless not wireless & thats why it showed with the Red X but maybe i've been wrong ?
** Ive attached a photo of the network adapters for the wireless so you can see ** ** I also took the Lap top over & nothing...everything was still exactly the same. No Connection, the IpConfig was the same so was the Device Manager. Well, I think I've given you all I know. I'd be ETERNALLY GRATEFUL for any Help & Assistance. THANKS & MANY HUGS, Corey
