Ahhh, but that's where getting motherboard & CPU combos can come in handy. Not only is the motherboard and CPU already matched up for you, but the heatsink and CPU fan are often included, too.
As far as the correct RAM, Crucial.com's on-line tool is great for matching up RAM with motherboards.
