Its old and its a cheap board. I wouldn't buy a ddr2 board for a new one becuase the cost of ddr2 ram is almost 2x that what ddr3 is.
If I was starting a new low cost amd build I would probably start with this:
Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
Or one of those A55 or a75 boards if you wanted to go that route.
If I was going intel a z68 is still my choice although you could get away with less.
