Wen I go on Youtube to see videos that people made about the XP Mode in win 7. they say you have to Download two programs.
I thought everything you need for the xp mode will come in win 7.????? |
before you read take a quick look at the differences in the diagram on this link-
Windows 7: Compare Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional, and Ultimate
Popeye's right Windows 7 Ultimate and Professional have the XP mode.
Not Starter or Home Premium. I have 7 Ultimate and the XP mode is only virtual and not the entire OS, so don't expect much from it. You have to go to the compatibility mode and you can change it to compatibility with your XP programs. I have XP on another PC and haven't had a problem transferring any of the programs to Win 7 Ult. Everything went gravy. You shouldn't have a problem installing most XP based programs on Windows 7
Recommended: Windows 7 Ultimate instead of home premium. There isn't much of a difference other than Ultimate has the XP mode, bitlocker, and a few other useless resources ..and
home premium does not. If you must have those programs as you've said don't waste money on home premium. Get Ultimate!
by the way you do have to download 2 programs from the microsoft website. They are-
Windows XP mode and Windows Virtual PC along with any update. I believe this is just a ridiculous attempt at validating the OS software as you will have to do it before downloading the files. they are huge too. 500 MBs just for the XP mode. take a look--
