Lightbulb Lessons

I was going and reviewing all 8 Lessons today and was thinking to my self.. Wouldnt it be nice if there was a "Quiz" or "Test" at the end of every lesson? Some thing to put what you have learned to the test. I know that they can just open a new tab and go to the lessons to get the answers right, but if someone REALLY wants to learn, they would actualy try and put there new knowledge to the test. Does anyone agree? :P

I agree, but the problem is we are all at different levels what one person would find difficult another wouldnt even bother with, but a test along the lines of a nationally or internationally recognised qualification would be of use, it would give people the chance to see how they would cut it in a real exam, its a pity byoit cant post a genuine exam paper to see how we would measure up, possibly give us a push to go for the exams and gain a qualification.

Thumbs up

I tend to agree, but it should be a generalized test. So you could see what your doing good at , and whats not so great so you could study up.

I think someone else suggested this awhile back, I have sent the idea to the admin via Skype!
w3schools does that on their site.

I was thinking about this alot lol well a bit more. There could be a page or mebe a link on the lesson pages for the tests. Since the lessons are sort of short [but very informative n_n] maybe be kinda like, Lessons 1-3, then 3-6, or in different variations so you have it kind of challenging or maybe the examination to a single lessons would be good. I know people are at different levels so maybe it can be sort of like a text book review test, wich has all the answers on the material you have read. The general test would be also good to see in what areas you need more to study on.

Hey all, I am working on a different type of membership program now to address this, I have often thought of the disconnect between out forum members which are typically more advanced, and those who just want the lessons,

what I have done or will have done by the end of the week is moving the first 10 lessons to a more trial basis, keeping them basic, then have a different program, one I am putting up at training.beyourownit.com

that walk-through things like setting up a website from scratch in 30 minute videos, more advanced things, its tough when your crowd is so diverse, the general lessons will really stop after ten or so....

It is so difficult to create random lessons here and there, the new approach addresses entire topics in a single video, lesson, and quiz....

thoughts?

Quizzes are cool, but the real learning will be applying what you learn one step at a time. I was never excellent with quizzes, but it is a good option to consider. When one thing isn't clear zoom it on it and do a lot of lateral background research and "ask questions", be it on a forum, call repair shops near you, or just go ask some kid at your local library. Kids seem to know everything these days. Remember youtube is a plethora of knowledge and can often answer whatever basic questions you have.
