Yes

The mother board is a VIA VT8237. I tried to look it up in Crucial and couldn't find the VT8237. I did look at Website called 4All Memory and put in the name Systemax Ascent and this is the memory that came back.

4AllMemory guarantees this memory module to be compatible with your system and deliver the performance you need. 1GB DDR-400 (PC3200)
System Memory

Part No: 42416-03.
Not at all what the tech ordered for me.

The numbers on my old memory KVR333X64C25/512

Just curious, Why do you think it is the memory and not the hard drive?

Thanks..deb

Think its your operating system thats to blame, its got corrupted, is it xphome xppro or vista

Sounds like its the right ram both pc 2700 ddr should fit no problem take old stuff out and try just one stick of new in different slots,

not unusual to have errors on your hard drive if you replace them every time you get an error you will be going thru half a dozen a week,

Dont think thats the make model of motherboard, VIA VT8237 is the name of the chipset and its used on lots of different motherboards, what your looking for should be printed on the board like this circled

You are right! I made it way to hard. I found the specs for the old computer and that is exactly what is indicated. 512MB DDR333 PC2700 Non-Ecc Memory. I am going to take out the old memory and try one stick of the new as you suggested and I will let you know. Great picture by the way of the inside of a computer. So are you saying if I put in the new ram and it still doesn't work it is my operating system? Do I understand correctly that the Ram doesnt really hold the memory only long enough to transfer it to the hard drive. Still learning. Thanks Popeye67.

yes, ram just transfers info from other components like the hard drive.
