Thanks Troubleshooter. But a little too much information. Less is more.

So you want an analogy, would be far easier to just explain it but here goes,

Well its a bit like sex, one partner is good but two is obviously better (more complicated but definetlly better) thats raid explained.

Now to the two main types of raid,

Raid0 is like sex without a condom lot better and your finished quicker,

Raid1 sex with a condom nowhere near as good but its a damn sight safer.
So

Nate, you really think this analogy is the best.

4 against 1. I must be wrong. Definitely a mans world here. You are KING Popeye. I got my analogy. I got what I asked for.

It's pretty good if you don't want a very descriptive description. Before this thread I didn't know what it was, but now with popeyes description I understand it somewhat... Lol.

No ..not too much information. What did it take you, 5 minutes to read what I wrote? It took me 2 min. You wanted it, you got it. The full spectrum. There shouldn't be another question on RAID from now on because they will be directed here. I'm sure you have read a 5oo page book in your life. What I wrote was no more than the preface of such a book. Now you have the best of both worlds...The analogy you don't like or the explanation I layed out that is shorter than a children's book. What gives here? Less complaining should be in order. That's twice now in your own thread, dear. Relax and have fun with this.

some people gravitate towards it while others are repulsed by it. Crass would be an understatement with my personality. I try to be on my best behavior on this forum, but I have said things far worse to the opposite sex and hooked up for a night on the town and made well with it.

The world is full of womanizing assholes and man-hating cunts. Cruel world since the beginning. It's the human condition. Get used to it or forever suffer emotional trauma's. Enough said.

I have been working since I was 14 but I have always managed to do it on a professional and accountable level and still have fun.

I'll give this a shot for you Iowa. What is raid, in a simplified explanation: you have 2 hard disks, drive A and drive B. Your data is 100 megabytes in size, in a raid 0 configuration you split half of the data to drive A and the other half to drive B, giving a performance increase. In raid 1 configuration your data is 100 megabytes in size and is written to both drive A and drive B, no performance increase but a safety feature. If either drive fails you have a backup of your data. There is a myriad of configurations one can have for raid setups, and your right; not the normal thing Mr. or Mrs. John Q. Public has to worry about.
