It's a eMachine ET1641, Vista program was completely wiped off hard drive, loaded Windows Xp Pro, it is missing Ethernet Controller, PCI Device, SM BUS Contoller, Video Contoller (VGA Compatible) I went to the eMachine support site and they have downloads for SATA, (2)VGA, (2) TV Tuner, Chipset, Audio, LAN, Wireless LAN, Modem. I don't know where to put them or which ones to use. I have uploaded them onto a jumpdrive but when I try to install it says there is no driver for that device on the jumpdrive, yet when you look on the jumpdrive it is there and I can put them in a folder on the computer. I have tried that NLIte program, but I must need step by step instructions because it doesn't work when I put the Windows CD in to try to intergrate it..

They should have auto run extentions, copy them onto the computer if you have to download them on another machine, just copy them to the desktop and run them you dont have to place them in a specific folder you just have to run them, if you start with the network drivers you should be able to download rest on computer, when internet is working g to control panel computer managment look for device manager, will come up with yellow triangle for drivers that are not installed yey.

might have to reset power on router.

and do a windows update before trying to update drivers might even load some of them.

OK I uploaded the LAN & Modem drives onto a jumpdrive. Plugged it into the eMachine, it didn't auto run, so I browsed to the drivers on the jumpdrive, clicked open, there were the 3 driver folders,I clicked on LAN_Nvidia_v.67.62_Vistax86x64 and had to click open and a program nvunrm is in the next folder, when I clicked on it, it went into the RUN window, I click OK and NVIDIA Uninstall pops up...Its says nvunrm.exe. version 1.0.1.56, Usage:nvunrm.exe<command>, Avalible Commands are ...then there are 48 different commands..
I click on the Modem driver it will not autorun either, so when I open it a folder x86 is there, when I open it there is a telephone and it says sm56hlpr, open it it goes to the RUN window and does nothing.
I have also burned it onto CD and tried to install it that way but it does the same thing.
Went into device manager to try to load them that way and they did not read the drivers either

For starters sounds like your trying to load vista drivers on xp program, let me have a look see if i can find right drivers.

Xp drivers for that machine are like rocking horse shit theres a lot of people had the same problem, if you want to continue with xp best bet for network and sound drivers is the realtek site

drivers should be pretty standard for your computer for sound and network but rest will be a nightmare, but unless you really have to keep xp i would go back to vista, do you have a vista install disc or can you get hold of one, and if the tech has sold you a copy of xp see a solicitor.

Okay...I will try those drivers...and they were SATA drivers...eMachine has no XP drivers for that machine.. I tried to buy a Vista program again and in this little town when 7 came out they wiped Vista off their shelves... There is also an IDE connect on this machine, I tried XP with another Hard drive hooked up to IDE and the same drivers were missing and it would freeze as soon as the welcome screen appeared, If I tried the F8 button it would tell me to install the windows cd and then it just starts reinstalling XP again. I got my XP program from the online school I was attending, it is a licensed copy.
So how would I use the IDE instead of SATA?? Will it work any different?? Do I have to change anything in the BIOS??? There are 3 types of MODE that it can run in...SATA MODE, RAID MODE, and AHCI MODE...
Do I have to take the SATA Hard Drive out if I use the other hard drive??
I need to slow down ...sorry...I will start with the driver site you recommended...

Firstly a ide hard drive will work on your computer unless theres a problem with the disc, if you can get into bios is that drive showing up, if not and it keeps crashing the computer theres a good chance theres a problem with drive or more likely jumpers are set to make it the master and computer is trying to boot from that drive instead of the drive with the operating system on it,

have you got a vista key normally theres a microsoft sticker on the case with five sets of, 5 numbers or letters,

can you get hold of a copy of vista or are you able to download a large program would probably take a couple of days to download, what was the reason for getting rid of vista was it corrupted or you just didnt like it (or was it slow)

If the computer will ruun vista it will probably run windows7 better, 7 needs less ram, if vista was running slow probably not enough memory, would take a week to upload a copy of 7.

if you live in a small town would probably be lot cheaper buying online tiger direct or newegg seem popular in us.

I can get into Bios and it does show Both hard drives. I never did check jumpers on the hard drives though..
I'll get back to you...I have checked about 13 different ethernet drives and so far nothing

Have you reset the power connector on the router, just unplug it and plug it back in.

Ok...I am like so stoked.....I checked the jumpers and they were both on Master, so I put the SATA hard drive on slave and just took the jumper off of the IDE hard drive....Turned it on and guess what!!!!!
It found a driver for the Ethernet Controller...I am on line ......Now what do I do about the other drivers???
Should I go into device management, and try finding them from there??? or will an update find them???

DAMN!!!!! IT BLUE SCREENED!!!!! It ran for about an hour and a half then blue screened....
Have you heard of the NLite program???? Just wondering if you have, I have heard it works ... I just don't understand how it works or how to work it..
