Coastaul Gurl, my comment about the "smelling like Spam" was not directed toward you, but toward the potential spammer.
I was just trying to help keep the forum "clean."
I meant no offense toward you.

If it blue screens it normally comes up with an error write it down and post it, it might help figure out the problem, if theres a sticker on the ram see if it tells you the timings, be somthing like 4-4-4-12 then go into bios and check the the memory timing is the same or that can cause blue screens, as for updating drivers try a windows update first, you can have trouble downloading drivers untill you do the initial windows update then go device maneger and see if any are still missing.

Nlite and vlite for vista intergrates stuff into your operating system like service packs . net framework and you can also streamline the os by getting rid of junk you dont really need, the way its done is you copy the files on the install disc to a folder within the nlite folder found in c > programs, when you open nlite you open the folder and it will tell you what service packs you have if any, then you download sp1 sp2 and sp3 and intergrate them one at a time and create a new set of files, you can get it to auto run by typeing prefrences like region language time zone, and get rid of stuff you wont need like games windows media player, its a lot of messing about and a waste of time unless your installing onto multiple machines or reinsall your os every couple of weeks, or you just want to learn how to do it.

Ok...Thereare 2 stickers on the RAMS they say SAMSUNG 1GB 1Rx8 PC2-6400U-666-12-ZZ M378T2863Qzs-CF7 0830, and the second sticker is like a UPC with RQ1741114Q12H84306008SS. I looked at both RAM and there is nothing but those stickers and those same numbers printed on the end of the RAMS.
I did the windows update and that is when the blue screen popped up.Before I did the updates it was running fine.

***STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) are the codes that show up with the blue screen

Welcome to this splendid forum coastal girl. I have high hopes you'll learn a thing or two. I hope your stay with us is fulfilling. The only good thing geek squad and PC repair shops are for is asking questions over the phone and comparing answers with the rest of them. There are some great threads that you can glean information from.

the error codes point to a problem with the hard drive, disconnect the ide drive that doesnt have the os and try it see if it cures the blue screens, if theres still a problem go into bios and make a note of what the memory timings are currently and then try 6 - 6 - 6 - 12

Have a question Popeye67.....Can I just throw a Windows 7 into it andstart fresh or will there be a problem????
took out the IDE Hard Drive, stilll got the same blue screen with same code.
Only memory it will let me get into is to adjust how many mb's to use....

Did you try changing the memory setting in bios, and if you have have install disc you can do a memory diagnostic with that try repar when it starts to load, windows7 should run if its had vista on it, but personally i wouldnt buy it unless i was sure it was going to run, problem is the only way to find out is download a copy off internet and if you do that bill gates wont be able to afford to give millions to the people of africa so they are healthy enough to savagly kill one another.

I went into BIOS and couldn't get into or find memory other than to change the amount of MB's to use on VGA memory...Other than that there is no memory choice.
Where would I go to find a 7 on the internet????

Coastal Girl I don't know if you're familiar with torrents but if you are download this torrent

Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Retail(Final) x86 and x64 (download torrent) - TPB

and then this one to activate windows 7

Microsoft.Windows.7.Working.Activator.For.OEM (download torrent) - TPB

with this two torrents you'll get a functioning Windows 7 operating system, if your computer runs it fine and you like it then youre good to go.

If you don't know how to use torrents asks one of us for help.
