Depends a kilo = 1000, so kilowatt is thousand watts, kilogram = thousand grams, if you are useing decimal numbering system, the exception (sometimes) is computers, mainly for hard drives and memory when binary number system is used(often alongside decimal number system without actually telling you), in binary theres 1024 = kilo, dont ask me how i cant get my head round it, if you open computer your hard drive will be displayed in decimal, right click > properties it will be shown in binary.
