Angry Barry

Hi Folks, I am new at this so please allow for same...I have a Gateway ML-6720 laptop that will not recognize a disc when I put one in the drive. I have loaded drivers out the yang, yang, and still no good results. When I open the drive the disc is still turning, howefer, it is slowing down and stops.
Anyone have any suggestions? I can repay you with dumb...

go to device manager and undo drive you install.

what is the model of the driver

Check and make sure it shows up in the bios, if it does, try to boot from a disk like the restore disk or OS disk, if it does that, then its a Windows problem.

If it doesnt do 1 and 2 the drive is most likely damaged (provided you have it set to boot from cd and the disk isnt badly burned)

Default Keep in mind...

The drive could be bad too... I had a desktop that had a similar problem... couldn't boot from it and had all the latest drivers and firmware. It ended up being the drive... I know it is a bit more of a pain with laptops but you can find replacements if you look...

Just a thought!
