Hello. My name is Ron. I am considering computer repair for a future occupation.

My knowledge is limited as far as software and hardware go. I'm not totally ignorant as I have been recording music with various DAW's (Digital Audio Workstations). So I do have a working knowledge of file types and structure.
I joined this forum to have another outlet to a knowledge base. In both hardware and software problems I may encounter. And to hopefully be able to extend my knowledge to others (however limited) that is.

Please keep that in mind as I may post in the future. I won't assume your response to be personal and you can assume the same from me.

If I seem a little dense it because I am!

Thanks, hope to hear from you in the forum.
Ron

Welcome to the forum good to have you with us, you already know the most important thing there is to know about fixing computers, you know enough to ask if theres something you dont know, first thing you should do is get your hands on as many old computers as you can, put the word about and you will be snowed under with none working computers in no time, leave your main computer alone so you can get on the net and ask questions if you have problems, and building a computer from scratch is one of the best ways to learn, lot of computer technicians would like you to think its one of the most difficult things you can do building/fixing computers, they want you to think that so you keep paying them lots of money to fix your computer rather than do it yourself, its nowhere near as difficult as they make out, in reality with a bit of practice you could bui;ld one in 15-20 mintes blindfolded

Thanks man. I agree with leaving my main CPU alone! As It's already a "Hot Rod" and works just fine for my recording needs.

Now my wifes olé' Dell 2350...I got some ideas for. Building a replacement is first item on my list.

daisymae70 Thanks for the welcome aboard. I have already utilized two and plan to watch more..wow free..really..these days?

We all have to make sacrifices, your wifes computer is an excellent choice in my opinion, and if she tries to stop you tell her shes being unreasonable, it wont help any but you can have a good laugh when she flies off the handle
