Default Moment of truth

Have any of you ever had a desktop or a laptop you just couldn't fix or figure out? It ended up in the "Lemon" pile or used it for parts.
My first laptop was a Toshiba Satelllite, in and out of Tosh service center 3 times, They replaced harddrive once. As I recall, to get to the desktop I had to say yes to an error screen so it would correct "whatever" to move on so I could even use the darn thing. THis happened everytime. Gave it away to a stay-at-home home-schooling mom friend of mine. She was delighted. It worked, but figured something wasn't right and eventually would take its toll. Think she still has it. I going to call her and see if it still does it. Then I'll have more questions. Now I have an Acer Extensa. Pretty happy with that. Just listening to what you guys buy and know I am sure this is really low end stuff. Pretty much fluff. I bought another Toshiba product (not computer) also problems. Done with Toshiba.

Some of us have children so low end stuff is what we deal with on a regular basis. I remember the days I used to have a commodore 64 and I was very happy. Everyone else had a nintendo and I had a commodore. To me that was high-end. floppy disks were really floppy and you could bend them in half. High-end is relative to to the future. Whats high-end today is low-end in a few years and I don't make futile attempts to keep up with the best hardware/software. I stay somewhere in the middle and look for the best reviews and bargains after something I want has been out for a year or longer.

I have an Acer Aspire that I picked up a few years ago and really enjoy it, even though it is near the bottom of low-end these days. As long as it does for me what I want it too, I can't complain.

.
surounded by them, the older computers get the more expensive buying parts for them is, doesnt make sense buying 128mb stick of ram for an old computer when its costing 2 - 3 times what a 2gb stick of ddr2 is costing, and if it runs perfectly will perform pathetically, but its alway worth keeping some parts for testing and repairing other computers.

If you have a problem with your computer first thing we are going to want to know is operating system, motherboard make and model, amount of ram, if its a problem with video whether its onboard or video card, helps you know what your dealing with especialy when your overclocking, if you go on overclocking forums most people put it in their sig save people having to ask but you can put anything including pics in instead.
