Question Sony Laptop . No display . no Proper startup

Hi this has been ongoing for some time . I have a Sony Vaio . Model . PCG-8L3M . That doesnt show any display either via output Socket VGA Connector . or its own laptop display .

Also . It's only showing a few LED's ( light emitting diodes ) on front case . That are

Power .Battery symbol 1 & 2
The hard drive LED doesn't show .

I Did ( Carefully ) replace the onboard video card . and there was a start up . though . no display also . and irrational noises .

Any Ideas !

Please !

N.B. Please check . Attach File . JPG . Sony Laptop . Startup Issues

Will it let you enter the BIOS (startup)?

Question Nothing with trying to get into BIOS

There is still nothing

No display no noise

just the same

with BIOS . F2 & F8

pressed on start up

Guess it'd be an electronic fault or could be some issue with replacement video internal card .

Because . When the previous video card was fitted there was a start up some whering . Though when this occured there was no display .

Any Ideas !

What this could be ?

If I might make a suggestion. In this forum's "Advice on General Use" column there are a bunch of Diagnostic Hardware labeled "Sticky's" that might be useful to you. I don't think to use these as often has I could. Asus went to alot of work to provide these. Something might be helpful. I wish I had more answers but I don't yet.

Gary,

There is no URL because the information is right in the General Advice column in this forum. Get out of Lap top Issues which you are in now. Click on The Computer Repair Forum up top and Page down to the sections that says "Advice on General Use" Click and open the section and you should see all the Diagnotics Threads that have a sticky. Pick the closest to what might help you with your problem. Let me know if I can help further. NOTE THE FLOW CHARTS.

Hmmm, did you have the laptop unplugged and the battery out when you put the video card in?

I'm almost kind of scared to ask this, but that model doesn't use an MXM card for its video interface... so what exactly did you replace when you said you replaced the on board video? Its not something that is user replaceable unless you replace the whole board.

Also in retrospect my hp dv2000 did the same thing when the north bridge came unsoldered from the motherboard due to a manufacturing defect.
