Exclamation Laptop web cam

I have an eMachine E525. The internal webcam does not work. It stopped once and I opened up the display and made sure the cable was connected securely and it worked for a while. I bought an external one to use in its place. I think the problem is where it is located. When I open my laptop, I put pressure on the spot where the cam is. Any thoughts on how to fix this issue.

Well, Since you have opened it up we really cant be sure about the condition of the webcam or its connections. Assuming its still good, what programs are you using to access it? Also, if you go into the device manager are the drivers for it properly installed? Are there any yellow "?"'s in the dev manager?

Default Laptop web cam

Device Manager shows that it is working properly, but when I click on the cam icon, it opens up with a black screen where the image should be.

I would probably go to your computer manufacturer's support website download the driver, uninstall the web cam and then run it becuase I don't know what else we could do with it. Someone else may have some other ideas but that is what I would do.

If you are sure the unity is bad skyline engineering keeps the parts for emachines/gateway/acer.

Unfortunately it doesnt look like they sell the webcam separately. Although it looks like you can buy the cable on ebay by searching emachines e525 webcam

I would assume that it is the webcam. If you opened it up and got it to work for a little while longer then there is probably something with the connections or the cam itself. Best place probably to find a replacement is ebay.
