Hello popeye, on my hp pavilion laptop the same thing happen I got the same verticle lines on my screen. I rechecked Lcd cable and all connections and every thing is securely tight, I hooked up an external monitor and monitor responds but not the laptop screen. So what I did I ordered a new screen and same verticle lines I also ordered new Lcd cable and new inverter board and the same verticle lines. I already ran out of experiments.... any thoughts

might be best testing the screen and cable on another laptop, its highly unlikely theres a problem with the m/b if external monitor is working

dont know how your going to get round it, cant see the m/b being the problem, did you make sure any sticky tape was replaced when putting it back together, lot of the time cables are stuck down with tape and it is important, not sure if its special tape for sheilding against electrical interfereance or what but it can meen the difference between a screen working correctly or not, and i would try reseating the connections again.

wouldnt normally advise it but you might be best taking it in to a shop and seeing if they can hook it up to another laptop to check it or you could end up replacing everything, its starting to look from what your saying the m/b is suspect but if an external monitor is working fine i wouldnt be confident a m/b would fix it and after that theres not much else you can change

Well for the mean time I don't want to spend any money to take in to a shop, I'll leave it hooked up to monitor then when it's time to replace m/b I'll replace it... Thanks again Popeye for all your help, I appreciate it. God bless...

Post Desktop dell xp

I bought a pc windows xp and it will not boot. When I turn it on, the screen reads: setup is being restarted..... after a while a window pops up and it reads: please insert compact disc labeled windows xp professional service pack 2 cd into your cd-rom drive(D) and then click ok.... also the mouse does not respond. Can you please help me how to fix it?

sounds like you might need to reinstall the operating system, is there an activation key on a sticker

you can try popping out the bios battery for ten seconds, or better still replacing with a new one
