Sometimes there is more to it than simply connecting an external monitor. There is often a key to press to send the video to the external port. Look at the specs for that laptop to find out. If you have already used an external monitor with this laptop in the past and it has worked, it sounds as though there is an issue with the graphics on the motherboard. If it was just the screen on the laptop itself that is defective you should still get an image on an external monitor.

Wilton, This appears to be a different laptop than the one you posted earlier but you can still try Popeye's suggestions. Did you do all the things he suggested? I would also recommend getting the Laptop Repair Workbook by Morris Rosenthal if you are making a business out of fixing laptops. It can help with the challenge. Blank Screen

i would try replacing bios battery and you can try the memory one stick at a time in the different slots to rule them out, but its starting to sound like the graphics chip has died, and to fix that your almost certainly talking about a new m/b and with laptops you need the specific board for that make and model, unlike desktops that are largely interchangable with m/b of the same form factor (atx, m-atx etc)

| Generally when all you are getting is the message "operating system not found" the hard drive has gone kaput.

| Or "the hard drive has been taken out" lol Ya! can't run a computer without a HD. Should be an easy fix if that is all that is wrong with it.

if the picture is fragmented with sqaures i would suspect bad connection to the screen try making sure connection is pushed in all the way and dont forget to replace any sticky tape holding them down, the tape is immoportant
