Default No WiFi Connection

Hi Everyone.

Seems my personal laptop is acting up and won't connect to the Internet with the wireless connection. If I plug in the cable it works no problem. I have a strong signal from my router, but cannot connect to it. We had a power outage and my Internet provider was knocked out for about 24 hours. I tried to hook up via wireless with another signal, but could not.

I am using a HP with windows 7, Intel Celeron.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Have you tried resetting the router since the outage?

Lately it seems my internet goes down for short spurts. My other computer is hooked up to my TV and uses a wirelss Dlink adapter to connect to my Netgear wireless router that is connected to my main computer.( there is a mouthful) Even if the computer goes off line for a short bit I have to reset my router to get any kind of connection through my Dlink adapter.

if resetting the router doesnt work you can stop the wireless and restart it, and if that doesnt work try dissabling the driver and reinstalling it

Hi,

I remembered my wife's computer has a USB antenna and uses the signal from the router to connect to the internet. I booted her computer up and it connected, so it is not the router. Must be something to do with the laptop.

Where do I find the information on the laptop for the WiFi hook-up?

Running Window's 7.

Thanks!

have a look in computer > network and sharing, theres a way to turn wireless off and then re-enable it but ive forgotten how but you should be able to find a troubleshooting option in network and sharing that will get it to work
