Exclamation Hard Drive Temp Partition Help!

Guys

I have just got a new laptop SAMSUNG rf711 which is really nice however I have a problem which I have no idea to solve.

I noticed that when the laptop arrived it was allocated with about 50GB for the C drive and there was another area described
TEMP_PART01 D: 880gb

I just wrongly assumed that everything would download to the temp partition but it seems some stuff ends up in the C part
which I thought would be handled by the software but apparently not.

I tried adding my newly puchased Microsoft Office and it says the disk is full.

this effectively means the PC seems full.

This obviously is sort outable but probably should have just been done before I started using it so hopefully its not going to
be too complicated.

It's been a while since I contacted you guys my PC's got destroyed when our upstairs neighbours flooded our 3 week
old apartment out and it's taken 6 months to get back home and the insurance to replace stuff.

I have the latest PC course but not it seems the laptop one but I am guessing this is the same whether PC or laptop?

Cheers Incidently I have to reregister to use the forum but have new login for the PC course.

Not sure how much help I can be never having had this problem. I have googled a couple of things. Sound more like you are going to want to merge partitions.

There were 3 solutions given. The one talks about merging partitions with Partition Magic but couldn't find a free version. I would wait to hear from others as well.

its been installed in such a way your c drive has the operating system on it and the d drive has your files on it, but it can be a pain installing stuff on the d drive and running it on the c, i assume your on vista or 7 so i would try using onboard tools first, go to start>right click computer>manage>storae>disk management at bottom of panel right click on the c drive

>and see if you can extend the partition, if theres nothing on the partition you could delete it or shrink it, and then extend c, if your on xp you would need one of the partition tools daisymae70 entioned (even if your on vista or 7 possibly tools in windows can be a bit limited compared to third party partition software, but read up on them before using or you could accidentally wipe the hdd)

If you haven't had the laptop long, and don't have much stuff on it. You might want to back up your stuff and then restore to factory defaults. It sounds to me that the original install was messed up. You should not have a 880gb temp partition.

By the way if you have Hirens disk, then It has Partition Wizard Home Edition on it. I like that much better than Microsoft's program. I think it's easier to use than the Microsoft program.
