I got Microsoft Life-Cam VX-5000 (Webcam), and the mic has never worked on any messanger (Yahoo, Windows Live, AIM). I know the mic actually works because it worked on my friend's computer. Is there a problem with my computer and the way it acts to webcams or is there a problem with the messangers.

Thats weird, are you sure the mic is configured right on the messengers?

Try going to control panel sound and audio devices and on the tab go to voice, go down to voice recording and check if your webcam device is there and then go to volume on that same section and check the microphone box. Also do that in Audio tab, sound recording.
