yea buddy i had same problem with mine. was brand new too. seems it was a virus. had to take it back to techs to fix it they had to replace, HDD, Mobotherboard and a few chips. i think it was only the CMoS battery but then again im not really sure. u can try taking it out and putting it back in the battery should be a little coinlike chip. if anything u can take it to a tech. but i'd say that as a last resort.

Take side cover off check fans working on cpu, if thats fine change the cmos battery, could be a lot of things but start ruleing out simple things first.

Probably is cmos battery its unlikely to be cutting out that quick because of heat, the chip will get over 100 degrees c before it will shut off you dont really want to put that sort of heat through it, for the sake of a few seconds its worth checking the fans spinning and the heatsink hasnt fell off(last bit only applies to socket am2 users).

if i were to do that lets say and i take the case out to see whats inside and if it spinns etc . wouldnt it be dangerous to let the parts there without that part? or does it not do any harm to it?

If you mean will it be alright turning the computer on without the side cover on it will be fine, your always better to have covers on as the case is designed to draw air through and the computer can cause electrical interferance to other eletrical devices, that said i cant even find the covers for mine but then i wouldnt advise anyone to arse around plugging and unplugging stuff allthe time like i do, if the fans spinning and the heatsink is secure best off leaving it alone.

Thought you meant a desktop, with a laptop you can normally feel the air blowing out of the vents, might have trouble finding the cmos battery on a laptop never mind replacing it, if you can get hold of install disc try repair install or start up in safe mode see if it keeps running if so it isnt hardware related its a corrupted os.
