Lightbulb PC Hangs After Post

I have been using an Asus M5A97 motherboard for about a year now and yesterday after changing the boot order in the UEFI Bios the computer was unable to boot as well as enter the setup. I've tried clearing the bios by both the jumper method and cmos battery method. I've stripped down the components and put them back in. Same result the pc starts up I hear the speaker beep and then it hangs at the boot logo. I've tried everything to enter the bios with no avail any ideas?

Here's my build:

Video Card: Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100338L Radeon HD 6770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
Motherboard: Newegg.com - ASUS M5A97 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
Memory: Newegg.com - G.SKILL Value Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBNT
PSU: Newegg.com - Rosewill Green Series RG630-S12 630W Continuous @40°C,80 PLUS Certified, Single 12V Rail, Active PFC "Compatible with Core i7,i5" Power Supply
Processor: Newegg.com - AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Thuban 2.8GHz Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor HDT55TFBGRBOX

can you get into the operating system in safe mode, if you can get into bios change it back to primary drive and make sure hard drive is first boot device not fdd or cd/dvd, could be the operating system needs a repair install

not had much dealings with UEFI bios but its pretty thing so check on their support website for known problems

Lightbulb Bios Chip

No luck getting into the operating system I've tried several different drives. I'm gonna try looking on the support website now. What I was going to ask was do you think it would be worth it buying a bios chip off ebay. All the hardware seems to be fine I get the beep meaning everything is recognized and I ran a memory test on the ram.

BIOS CHIP:ASUS M5A97 | eBay

might do the trick but i think i would submit a ticket to asus support, doubt it but could be these chips dont like removing bios battery to reset bios

does a boot disc like ubcd or hirens work

or better still installation disc

Smile Update

Yeah I tried the whole unhooking and rehooking. It turned out to be a corrupt bios chip, posting from the fixed pc now.

Now I only have one more thing to fix, the tablet that stopped booting three days after my bios chip failed. It's as if I walked around with a pocket full of magnets that week.

was it the actual bios needed flashing or the UEFI chip needing replacing

Smile Very late

Howdy,

The motherboard needed a bios chip replacement. Happily posting this from the repaired computer. As for the tablet I was under warranty so I just got it
fixed at the service center. All is good now I have only my server to fix.
