For my Linksys router you can, you just login and go to the firmware tab or something like that.

The manual does not say anything about configuring the Firmware in the Router. Just Hoocking it up witch I did to just my Desktop computer with the CAT Cable. But I will be getting a Netbook to use wirelessly with it. I did call Belkin and they tell me somewhat how to do it but not what I am doing and I never configured a wireless Router before. So If I type thoso numbers in my web browsers address bar it brings up a web page that says Bekin. But am I right that this is not a WePage from the net it is displaying the Firmware from in the Router???? |

Right, when you type in that number it will either bring you to the router settings or ask you to type in a password. Just look for the firmware part on the left. |

Correct when you enter 192.168.2.1 into your address bar, it does not bring a web page from the internet, it brings up the setup for the router which you are connected to. If you are updateing your firmwire, MAKE SURE you reset ur ipconfig after update. in-case you didnt know this is how. Start up "Run" (Windows Key + R) Type in CMD in the command line type: "ipconfig/release" Without the quotations after it releases in the command line type: "ipconfig/renew" Then ur ip is ready to go. just press the X *Router Tip* To help secure your router from potential hackers, you can change your IP address from 192.168.2.1 to something like 192.168.5.6 IF you do make SURE you will remember the number in order to access your router config menu. IF you do that make sure you do the ipconfig reset (listed above) |
