Hello all, One of the removable drives(drive E) is missing. There is every drive from Local Disk C and D to the removable drives, F-I, excluding E. It is the removable drive used by my portable cd player and some other removable media(ie flash drives). I need it to install the driver for the portable CD/DVD drive(LG GP10NW20). Any help is much appreciated. ![]() Edit_____________________________ It still can spot USB Flash drives! It only hates the CD/DVD player.-Mel Last edited by MElawe; 01-22-2012 at 10:24 AM. |

cd/dvd drives dont need a driver normally, try plugging it in a different usb port, if its still not showing try a different usb cable (if you can), is anything happening at all (blinking lighs, sound its spinning up), also try the drive on a different machine to check thats not the problem

Is there some hidden driver I can uninstall, and re-install? In the "Safely Remove Hardware" dialog(Display device components checked) it is under USB Mass Storage Device> HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GP10NW20 USB Device. You can see the CD/DVD player here: Optical Storage | LG GP10NW20 External DVD Burner | LG Electronics Canada or GP10NW20 Optical Storage IT Product |

does it work on another computer reading the disc and burning, shouldnt really need drivers, try plugging something else in so that drive E is taken then try plugging it back in another port if it doesnt show up i would say its bit the dust

I've had usb drives do that but it was almost a bad usb driver for the USB CHIPSET or a failing usb port.

try a system restore, sounds like something might have become corrupted, and if thats the case i would start looking for malware

| Its been over a week since it hasn't been working, if I restore now it might cause more trouble since I've uninstalled three programs. :/

But if I don't find any other solution, I might go with system restore. |
