Default "Ubuntu" Operating System Review :D

Ubuntu is a community developed operating system that is perfect for laptops, desktops and servers. Whether you use it at home, at school or at work Ubuntu contains all the applications you'll ever need, from word processing and email applications, to web server software and programming tools.

Ubuntu is and always will be free of charge. You do not pay any licensing fees. You can download, use and share Ubuntu with your friends, family, school or business for absolutely nothing.

We issue a new desktop and server release every six months. That means you'll always have the latest and greatest applications that the open source world has to offer.

Ubuntu is designed with security in mind. You get free security updates for at least 18 months on the desktop and server. With the Long Term Support (LTS) version you get three years support on the desktop, and five years on the server. There is no extra fee for the LTS version, we make our very best work available to everyone on the same free terms. Upgrades to new versions of Ubuntu are and always will be free of charge.

Everything you need comes on one CD, providing a complete working environment. Additional software is available online.

The graphical installer enables you to get up and running quickly and easily. A standard installation should take less than 25 minutes.

Once installed your system is immediately ready-to-use. On the desktop you have a full set of productivity, internet, drawing and graphics applications, and games.

On the server you get just what you need to get up and running and nothing you don't

What does Ubuntu mean?
Ubuntu is an African word meaning 'Humanity to others', or 'I am what I am because of who we all are'. The Ubuntu distribution brings the spirit of Ubuntu to the software world.

Try it out and have Have Fun!

You have to put it on a disc, correct? I've been wanting to do this, but I got no disc to install it on.

Yep,You can have them send you one...but because of high demand it would take about 10 weeks.I just sat back and let the iso download! and then put it on a cd.Here's some opinions Nate.

Get Ubuntu - Download, request a CD, or buy on CD/DVD | Ubuntu

Awhile ago I found something called Wubi, which you can download it without a CD, but I got a lot of errors installing it.

I've been wanting to buy some CD's to try Ubuntu.

Default Love Ubuntu

I downloaded in Ubuntu a few months ago. I run it on my old computer. I love it. I am actually thinking about putting it on my laptop. I love the ideal of not having to use windows.

Thanks for info. I hope more people try it.

bought a linux magazine a few months back with four different versions, bit strange after vista but had some good stuff on them including a flight simulator and pretty decent looking games (not really into games myself) lime wire anonymous browsers, went back to vista but they lasted longer on my computer than windows seven did, you can usually pick them up on discs you get with magazines.

Are there any special requirements to put Ubuntu on any computer? I've been going all over the place to get it and put it on my laptop. It still needs an OS and I've been looking at Linux recently and from what I'm reading here I'm really gona like it. Just might have a little trouble getting used to it since I'm not exactly the most experienced with Open Source, or does that even matter?

They are all free, if the computer ran windows it will run linux, some will seem a little basic but certain ones have games and flight simulators in them, they are just a bit different to windows well worth a try, best one ive seen is sabyon or somthing like that, old version was pretty good been meaning to try the new version.

Ubuntu looks a bit drab compared to vista and seven but it will do pretty much everything they will, lot of people are waiting for the new google os but its only going to be a tarted up version of linux.
