Thought someone might be interested in this if they are looking to use an OS other than Windows.

Thanks I will check it out.

Hmm, is there a way I could install it on a web hosting service and use it remotely? I have a subscription with fatcow, it would be great if I could do so.

Edit________
The guide has lots of info, thanks. I will surly take a better look at it if I install Ubuntu. There is something about that default wallpaper that sings to. :P

MElawe if you want to use a system for webhosting. although it is not as user friendly as ubuntu, Debian comes pre-installed if you want it to be with Apache's web hosting server. which you can always remotely control.

no its just that some people swear by by this stuff because there are things it does as good if not better than windows, and its free of course so you can forgive an awful lot when your not making bill gates richer, if you just want a no hassle operating system stick to windows, if your willing to put in the time and effort to get the most out of os like linux and debian they are definitely worth trying

Yea, I've heard that too, yet I never really understood what they mean when they say "get the most from your os". If it runs well, isn't slow, and about every program you need runs on it, isn't that all there is to an os.

most things wont run on windows until you download more programs, with some of these niche operating systems they are already integrated into the os, lot of linux programs have a lot of stuff included that put windows to shame, thing is with windows you don't really need to know how it works, with linux you might not need to know how it works to use it but it helps to learn a little to get the most out of it

You can actually install Ubuntu in windows like an app and try it out side by side with windows. If you don't like it it's as easy as running your uninstaller to get rid of it.
