Default What to look for when Building a Gaming Computer

We often get questions about if certain computers would be good for gaming, or questions on what CPU, Graphics card to get and etc. well im going to make this guide that will give you pointers for a good gaming computer for the buck.

Now, what i usually base my specs off, is going to your local computer game store. and reading all the specs for the newest games. and usually make my system 2-3 times faster and better.

Key Factors when buying from the shelf. Look at your CPU, and the GHZ, you dont want to get anything lower then 1.0Ghz Dual core. anything lower your not going to be happy with your results. Another thing is the memory, dont get anything with less the 2GB DDR2. and most important i think is the Graphics Card, you dont want no cheapy graphics card try and stick with MSI or ATI atleast a 4000 or higher with 1GB, 180-bit.

Key Factors when building from scratch. When purchasing a Motherboard, pay close attention to the Socket, and if its going to be able to handle the CPU you want. When buying a CPU (Processor) look at the core, and the Ghz. if you dont want to be updating with in a year or so, i suggest getting a quad-core. of 1.8-2.4 Ghz CPU. your Power supply, you have to pay attention to the Watts. you need to get a power supply that is going to be able to Run your system, but you dont want to over Watt it. Mine i use a 200W Power Supply, yours might take a 180W. Look on the CPU and MB info to find out, or ask us =). Graphics goes for the same as buying from shelf, dont get a Graphics Card thats under a 4000 graphic setting, and no lower then 1GB, and 180-bit. Below some Graphics card options.
Best place to purchase you Hardware, Newegg.com

What would th best Graphics card, to give awesome graphics, and FPS speed, while not spending a lot of money?

One i suggest is the
HIS Radeon HD 4670
has 1GB 128-bit DDR3
for only 80 bucks. and that is a fairly good graphics card.

Now if you got money...and willing to spend high in the hundreds, to thousands, depending on what type of gamer you are..

nice one here
ATI 100-505584 FireStream 9270 for 1200

Processor AMD Athlon LE-1640(2.6GHz)
Ram 3GB DDR2
HardDrive 320GB SATA 7200RPM
Graphics card Integrated NVIDIA GeForce 8200 Graphics
Operating System Windows Vista Home Premium
Chipset NVIDIA GeForce 8200
Power Supply 220W

questions: is it better to have more GHz? or does it depend on the type of proccesor? is more ram better to speeding a computer up?also is this computer good found it real cheap so asking here first.

is the processor a dual core? is so, then
Yes, this is a very nice computer, and should suit your needs, yes the more GHz the better, it also depends on the type of processor and what you plan to do with your computer, Gaming AMD is your best choice. AMD is a good gaming processor, now if you more for business your best is to go with Intel.
yes the more ram, they more memory it will have therefor speeding up your computer to a point, BE SURE YOU DO NOT go over the limit of RAM the motherboard can handle.

Think the le 1640 is a single core but shouldnt cost much to uprade to a dual core if your not happy with performance, memory wise if its a 32bit operating system it doesnt matter how much your board will take because windows can only access about 3,25gb max, lastly power supplys a bit small, but its a good starting point but for gaming you will never be satified your always going to want better and faster.

True True popeye.. eww ya i wouldnt even consider buying it with a Single Core... unless you want to replace it with your processor, if you choose to go that route be sure to check and see if the motherboard will handle that big of processor.

Ya popeye forgot xp only runs 3.25GB of memory.. that's adding your DDR2 and your video card memory. ehh the power supply is decent, for what its powering, if you upgrade it to Dual core, maybe look into getting a 280W power supply
