Hi everyone , i know that this question may sound silly to you guys coz you guys are well versed in this and real professionals but i am a newbie . For the past many years my computer has been assembled and installed by an outside tech expert . So now i am going to purchase another computer and for the first time i selected and chosen my computer parts unlike before . But now i would be really happy myself , if i could assemble the entire system all by myself . So my first confusion is whether to insert the motherboard CD or the operating system CD in order to start the installation . So by now i hope you clearly understand how naive i am , so plz guys help me in this , tell me the step by step procedures that i must follow in order for proper installation . Thnx to All . |

By the way , i did'nt steal the caption from anywhere , just felt it was appropriate for my topic and stuck with it . The youtube link that you posted was awesome but only the hardware assembling and installation are shown . It would be better if i knew what must be done next , as soon as everything is configured , ie motherboard driver installation or O.S installation first and from then on "The procedures" . Sorry to offend u , but are your Eyes Alright , if not its better to go to the nearest infirmary ... coz my name is displayed clearly above my every post , just take a look at it . Its not a silly question and most of us are not proffesionals just learning as we go, if ive got this right youve got your head round building the computer up its installing the os you want to know about, when you switch on the computer you will probably see a splash screen with motherboard makers name, look carefully and it will tell you how to enter setup it normally delette key, get into bios and boot section and find boot priority list and make sure cd/dvd drive is first, stick disc in, then when you restart it will ask if you want to boot from cd press any key, press a key and it pretty much installs itself.

Yeah , you are pretty much right ... i am bit confused as to how to put the questions i have in mind precisely . I do know how to install a new operating system ... its just like u mentioned , no probs with this part . But the thing which is bothering me is that , What actually must be done , or I'll put this in your perspective ... What will you do as soon as you have finished assembling all the hardware and peripherals in the way it should be . ie After * Monitor connected * All Hardwares are placed inside the C.P.U case * Rest of the peripherals are also connected . My doubt is what will you do next ... Whether will you insert a motherboard disk into the optical drive to install the drivers or directly Operating system disk first . In short i want to know things that must be done from the moment you switch on your plug (electricity) and check whether ur new PC is installed properly or not. I hope you guys understood my point ... plz do reply . |

Operating system install disc first, choose language region and if its xp keyboard input if you dont want standard american keyboard layout, time date time zone thats about it, more or less loads itself, when its up and running you can do it a few ways either run the motherboard disc to load drivers and apps or go into device manager and update individual drivers one by one from the motherboard disc or off the internet, or easiest way do a windows update, any drivers that are not loaded after that try the motherboard disc see if drivers are on there.

Once again i appreciate your help , this was the answer i was looking for . O.K. Now everything is clear to me ... So as soon as i finish all the hardware parts , when i turn my system on first install the O.S and then the Drivers ... Cool . One more thing , this is out of topic but what actually is a "Track Back" , i saw it as an additional option while posting this topic . |

Don't sweat the small stuff. Occasionally I approach noobs eccentrically. It helps guage the psychology of the person better. BTW something is wrong with my eyes. It usually happens when I take a babe home and wake up next to a Frog-Eyed Troglodyke. As for your progress on installing you PC appropriately, There are a ton of youtube vids on installing an OS. In fact, I just built a PC myself and can assist if you have any further troubles. My opinion ..Install the OS 1st always. It helps to have a 2nd connection to the "net" in case you need to locate device drivers that are more "up to date" but easy to find. Remember: when you put the OS disk in your drive and hit reset tap the delete key at the 1st screen you see to get into BIOS and change the 1st boot sequence to CD-ROM and the 2nd to HD. Save and exit and let er rip. All downhill from there. What OS are you running? If you have the motherboard disk, you should have all the drivers on there. When Windows does the final reboot and logs in (take out the OS disk) get your updates that are usually waiting. Then Install all the updates at once from the disk. If you are having any other troubles, let me know shawn. Good Luck
