Question CPU to Motherboard

I am rather new to hardware, my software web skills are good, but I always wanted to know more about matching a CPU to a Motherboard. I would like to know everything about it. I mean I kinda understand pin count, but what about all the other little stats and things to know. I mean I can get a CPU with the same pins, but how do I know its better other then it being 2.5GHz to 2.8GHz... plus is that even enough to be a value? I think this would make for a great video. Keep up the good work!

if youve got a 2.5 ghz processor the chances are it will overclock to 2.8 easily, just keep an eye on your temps and remember to lock the pci to 100 mhz, then if you run a benchmark you will see the difference, if you dont run a benchmark you probably wont see a difference.

what mobo and cpu have you got.
