Default Sony VGN-FW520F/T

Does anyone have anything good to say about this product? I was looking into getting a good craptop for mobile purposes, but don't know much about them, I figure Sony is a good name. Any feedback on recommended laptops?

Don't know that much about laptops either. However, I can say from experience that the Acer Aspire 7740-5691 has been really awesome for me. Rob

You're going to buy an overpriced viao for .... as you say "Craptop" duty?

What does the usage entail, what do you do on it? Whats your pricing range?

Your link didn't work but currently its an old core2duo and amazon still has it up for about 1100. If you buy a C2D laptop for 1100 you deserve what you get. Also, according to reviews the battery life on those viao's is abysmal.

Mobility and battery life : Thinkpad x120e.
Newegg.com - ThinkPad X Series X120e (05962RU) Notebook AMD Dual-Core Processor E-350(1.6GHz) 11.6" 4GB Memory DDR3 1333 320GB HDD 7200rpm AMD Radeon HD 6310

Mobility and Raw Power: Thinkpad edge
Newegg.com - ThinkPad Edge E220s (50382NU) Notebook Intel Core i7 2617M(1.50GHz) 12.5" 4GB Memory DDR3 1333 320GB HDD 7200rpm Intel HD Graphics 3000

Im not a lenovo fanboy, they just have 2 nice products at those price ranges, I really like HP's offering against the x120 which the dm1z but you need to get it from their site instead of newegg.

You listed a 16 laptop for "mobile" duty. It depends how "mobile" it is. I have a 17 in asus which is not a mobile pc by any definition.. it gets moved from place to place but i dont use it while on a train or a plane, its just too big. Anything bigger than a 14 or a 15 is going to give you some grief if you are trying to use it like that which is why i showed 2 different 11-12 inch options.

If youve got a different use case scenario let us know.

PS if you are deadset on a viao, at least get an up to date one:
Newegg.com - SONY VAIO F Series VPCF13XFX/B Notebook Intel Core i7 740QM(1.73GHz) 16.4" 4GB Memory DDR3 1333 500GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M
