How to get it http://files.avast.com/files/beta/6....up_av_free.exe How to install it Just run the setup executable (links above). This version needs to be installed from scratch, i.e. updating from a previous version of avast won't work. This will be fixed relatively soon - however, for now, the only option is to really uninstall the version you're using (if any), reboot, and install this beta. Also, if you have already used a previous beta of the standalone WebRep, it's better to uninstall it before installing avast 6. What's new Main changes/improvements: - AutoSandbox – suspicious programs will be optionally run sandboxed - avast! WebRep – browser plugin for website reputation rating; a combination of data from our virus lab and community voting - Script Shield now even in the Free AV - Site Blocking now even in the Free AV - SafeZone – a special virtualized area for sensitive transactions (e.g. secure online banking) (paid products only) - Restore factory settings command (Settings -> Troubleshooting) - Automatic actions in the boot-time scan - New compression method in the installer makes the setup packages about 20% smaller. - Script Shield now functional even with IE8/IE9 Protected Mode - Sidebar gadget - Improved stability/compatibility of the Behavior Shield - Improvements in the avast! sandbox Known issues - Help files not updated yet - Localizations incomplete yet - SafeZone not yet accessible (Pro AV / IS only) - WebRep only available for IE and Firefox (Chrome is coming soon) - Firewall: per-application packet rules not yet accessible - Firewall: uTorrent conflict not yet resolved Here's a link to their forum for the beta testing:*** INTRODUCING: FIRST BETA VERSION OF AVAST 6 *** And here's how to resolve the issue of installing the WebRep plugin for FireFox: I got the WebRep issue resolved. Just have to go into Program Files, AVAST Software, Avast, Setup, WebRep, then right click on aswWebrep, chose open with, the chose to open it with FireFox. It will then ask you to install it, click install, restart FireFox, and it should be installed. There doesn't seem to be any issue with installing WebRep in IE. I've been using it the past few days now and haven't had any problems except the above issue which I figured out. I really like having the Sand Box feature with the free version now. And it says that there is an issue with uTorrent, but I haven't had any problems with it and uTorrent.

For those of you who are having problems with Windows recognizing Avast as your AV software the fix is simple. Restart your comp, go into safe mode, run your uninstall app and uninstall Avast, after you do that go into Program Files and delete any folders named Avast or Allwil, then reinstall Avast and everything should work fine for you. The reason it wasn't recognizing Avast was because you originally forgot to delete the Allwil folder in your program files when you uninstalled 5 before you installed the beta version of 6. Also, before I forget you will want to go into your Program Data folder and delete any Avast or Allwil folder from there also before reinstalling. Another thing is that you will want to turn Windows Defender off too. Otherwise you will have to anti-spyware programs running at the same time.
