Default Acronis

Backup software for data backup and disaster recovery in Windows and Linux - Acronis

Acronis 2011 is one of the greatest programs out there for back up and cloning. I had to do a nuke and pave on about 50 Dell Latitudes D630. I did a Nuke and Pave on one of them and then cloned the rest. Saved me hours, upon hours of work.

Their back up tools are also great.

I've used it 3 or 4 times and never gotten it to work. Failed clones, bad burns of the live cd, just... generally an unforgiving software to me. Then again I've never gotten clonezilla to work properly either.

However, other people have great experiences with them so I give them the benefit of the doubt when recommending them to other people. Personally though, I am rather out of patience when it comes to trying to make them work.

HDClone and PartImage work fine when I NEEED to clone. I also don't have anything worth cloning anymore and I keep sensitive data and file installers seperate from my Windows Installation.

I am not just making it look good agreeing with Will, but I had some bad experiences with Acronis myself. Did everything properly, even asked questions on other forums as to why, but it just kept corrupting my disc images. I never had a problem creating a disc image on a USB flash drive w/ Microsoft's default program though. Acronis is all hype and no give if you ask me.

I have a copy of the new build of Acronis 11. And have had no problems with it. I have an old copy of Acronis 9 and it doesn't like win7 that much, but Acronis 11 works great with Win7
