im sure its a great pc.. but they are so overpriced and are always soon outdated.. you will be better off building your own for future upgrades!

Yah thanks for the advice, thats just what my friend said, but he recommended the HP HDX. I checked it out at BestBuy and I think I'm going to get it.

but you were right, alienware does keep making better laptops then the first ones.

If you've not owned or worked on an Alienware laptop there are some issues you need to be made aware of first.

Alienware is now owned by Dell, not a bad thing but I've dealt with their poor customer service in the past and getting a reply from them is akin to trying to pull teeth. With that said though I hope the customer support gets better with Dell as their new owners.

Their are many overheating issues with trying to put a desktop format into a laptop design. I've worked on a few of the older and newer models and overheating with the CPU and the GPU's seems to be an ongoing issue. This can sometimes be resolved but not in all cases.

Lastly is the cost. For the price you're paying I would expect a lot higher quality, not just in the components but also in the customer service responses. Alienware has notably been sorely lacking in this area and having had to deal with them several times, I can tell you with no regard they are one of the worst companies to try to deal with. I've dealt with almost all the customer support for the major manufacturers (computers) and Alienware is far and away the absolute worst!

Just a few notes to keep in mind before you lay out big money for a computer (laptop) that may not live up to it's advertised hype.

my buddy got one. he absolutely hated it. he had to send it back 5 times to get repairs done to it.

he finally said F*** it, and had me build him one.

LOL, yes Strom you can build a laptop. not a myth. i have customly built my own. there should be a sticky in Request For Lessons thread called How To Build a Laptop.

Ocz do a kit of parts as well, you pick the parts you need if ideal if youve got a good chip and want to re-use it. them you just nail it all together.
