OK. That make sense. The moral of the story is "have a UPS" its a necessary layer of protection. |

Never had one and never known anyone who had one, maybe its the power supply over here more stable, where on 220-240v never heard anyone have problems after a power cut, plus some of the prices of them it would be cheaper buying a new computer.

That's interesting that you don't experience power fluctuations. I live in a small town that seems to have the worst power grid in the area. It's not unusual for me to lose power for 1 to 10 minutes during the heat of summer or during electrical storms. A UPS is essential at my house. Also where I work I have UPSs on all the PCs and servers because the utility company seems to be constantly cutting the power cables that run in front of the building. As for the 220v, I can see that being a better system. I'm not an expert on electricity but I know it would draw less amperage through the circuits to power devices. Maybe that results in a cleaner flow of electricity. Do you even use surge supressors in case of lightning strikes? |

We have thunderstorms occasionally but not that often, dont know anyone who would turn anything electrical off including their computers, tend to view it like anti static wristbands when your working on computers, ive never used one think i might if i lived somwhere hot and humid, just pisses down all the time here its never hot, im not saying i dont believe in esd and all that i wouldnt polish my graphics card with a woolen jumper or anything like that but i dont worry about it that much.

Nice Asus, Is it an automatic fail over or do you have to manually switch to the generator? I'd love it if they made a solar generator that didn't take up the whole back yard or rooftop and cost an arm and a leg. That's what I'm waiting for. It just makes sense to pull power from the sun. For now I have a 5000W gasoline generator. I've had it for two years and haven't had to use it. If you've ever been without power for a couple of days as the result of an ice storm you'd understand why I've got to have one. It would be intersting tow see how clean the electricity would be coming off of a generator versus the standard power grid. |

The power has only gone out once in like 3 years where i live, so I don't think I'll ever need one.
