Default Logitech G5 gaming mouse

For those who do heavy gaming for hours on end (not me), this is one item you may want to seriously consider adding to your arsenal.

MSRP $59.99

Target Market: Gamers

One of the first things you happen upon besides the over abundance of large packaging is the the size of this mouse. Inside the packaging it appears to be huge and bulky and somewhat heavy. This in part is due to the added weights that come with the G5 which slide underneath in a neatly hidden tray.
Some people (me) like to have a mouse that is adjustable in weight for throwing around on your mousepad for fast reactions. Some prefer their mouse to be lightweight though for faster response and ease of use over long hours.

The cord really stands out. For those who remember grandmas old light cords (The fabric woven ones) this might bring back some memories. The idea behind it is that plastic (over time) can get bent and pinched and cause catching when being used fast. The cloth woven exterior of the cord slides smoothly for even the longest of movements with binding or catching on your desktop.

It has 3 dpi settings for those who like superfast response or slow careful and pinpoint accuracy. I would also like to add that for those doing any type of critical CAD or photoshop work I would highly recommend a gaming mouse versus a standard mouse. These are much more functional and will seriously improve your accuracy and response times. The price tag (almost double a standard mouse) is well worth the investment I promise you.

The finish is nice with a cracked rubber look and a blue or black coloring (depending on which mouse you buy). It's got the large humback design which is excellent for large hands.

Now it's best feature (IMO). The added weights. While it may not seem like a big deal since we're not talking about pounds here, the adjustable weight feature (in grams) is something I've come to truly appreciate. I work in the construction field and I'm not used to small light dainty things. To me they feel as though they're prone to breakage even if they aren't. I like to have a mouse that will move the way I want it to when I want it to.

The feet on the mouse (I believe) are Delrin type plastic. In all honesty this is it's worst feature, It doesn't glide nearly as smoothly as the NZXT Avatar gaming mouse and it also leaves behind some small shredded plastic if your using it intensely on a gaming mat. It wouldn't be nearly as quick if it weren't for the additional weight I added inside it.

Is it worth the price tag? In my opinion, absolutely. Having switched over to gaming mice from the standard type out of the box mice, I would never go back. When you want quality the fact is you're going to have to pay for it. With long hours of usage I could not say I'd ever want to go back to a normal mouse again. Since I often times do computer repairs it's disappointing to go to a customers home and have to use their standard mouse so I've even gone so far as to bring my mice with me. They're not only more comfortable to use but I can actually get more done faster.

The cons for this mouse:

1) I definitely don't like the feet. They aren't quite smooth and over time leave small shredded bits behind.

2) The finish on the mouse (blue one) with the silver lightning, wears off over time. Not a huge deal but could be done better.

3) The fabric covered cord will begin to slightly fray over time which mine has already begun to do.

Now the pros:

1) Great for those with big hands!

2) The humpback design is very comfortable and natural feeling.

3) Additional weights!!! by far it's best and most useful feature.

4) Easy to connect and no additional software necessary.

Out of 5 stars I'd give this one a 4.3
