I have a Dell Inspiron 1420 ruuning on a Vista OS.
The speakers for the laptop dont work. However, when i plug in a headset the sounds works fine. Any suggestions?

Sound works through Speaker jack but not internal speakers

Sounds like a problem with the speakers. Have you opened up this laptop? I'm wondering if the speakers were disconnected or damaged.

Other than that the only other thing I can think is go into your control panel and then go into Sound. Check under the different tabs (Mainly Playback) and make sure the speakers are not disabled or muted.

If your sound card has software you can also check that to see if the speakers are disabled or muted.

I do not believe this could be it but if all else fails, it's worth a look. Check your Device Manager and make sure there are no yellow circles with ! or ?. If there is one then you will need to update your drivers.

I have yet to open the laptop but im first going finish watching the laptop repair course. In th mean time, ill try that approach to see if the sound is muted. Thanks
