Whats the name of the program? and the memory doesn't get used up. Neither does system memory. They both can only hold so much at 1 time but they can overwrite the values without any issues.

aahhhh! I thought the memory was getting "filled up". I've obviously been pushing it to it's limits. What do you mean by overwrite the values "witout issues"?

It is working memory, not storage memory.

It is erased all the time, and its cleared when the power goes off. It stores values to operate on them until they aren't needed anymore.

It is designed to write/overwrite/overwrite again.

That gts is a sweet deal. I'd rather swing the extra $40 now than end up having to replace the sucker a year from now I checked that one out at best buy, it was $199, no screwing there
When you say you have to edit a few text files what do you mean? Is this what overclocking is?

I went back and started the free IT course again. I want to be sure I understand all of this crap before I dive into the guts of my computer; although switching out a graphics card is fairly simple isn't it? If I'm right you just stick the new card in, close her up, when it's booting throw the driver cd in and viola picture on the screen????
You mention earlier that the old driver may have crashed and recovered. It was doing that blinking to black before I upgraded the driver. Shouldn't the driver update have fixed that?

video card memoey pushes the technology think its up to ddr5 or 6 while m/boards are on ddr3, reason theres so much money spent on developing video cards is down to the market catering for gamers, if it does the job for them its going to be more than adequate for the likes of us.

Popeye

So if my motherboard is set up for DDR2 it's not going to give a rats butt what I throw at it?
I guess I don't understand the concept of motherboards and their relationship to other hardware. I understand it's like a traffic director, but if I was a traffic director I think I'd know the difference between a tractor trailer and a Volkswagen. If your motherboard's roads are made for Volkswagens, how can they still be wide enough for a huge tractor trailer?? Why don't they just put a bigger DDR in, in the first place?

Thanks, I'm trying to swing the cash for a new video card and you want me to get out my check book for something else
Actually I think my HD is heading to the high country too. I tried to run a diagnostic on it today and 1 scan said it couldn't even find the HD and the second one I ran said everything is just fine. Both run using Western Digitals test software. The first was an ISO boot scan and the second was a more simple test, but done after boot.

As far as i know they dont make memory modules from it, memory is developing all the time and graphics cards are pushing the technology, doesnt matter how much you pay in six months time something will have bettered it, figure out what you can afford and read reviews to figure what you should buy unless your playing games your unlikely to see the difference with the naked eye between cards that have a couple of hundred $/£price difference.

what about high end graphics? I need the best quality I can get for a print out. As they say in my business; Detail makes the sale". If I show a customer a printout that looks like it was in a magazine, it's almost always a better sell. Then again some women you can't please no matter what you show them, my wife included.
