I am on a roll here. Another reason why this forum is a good one and I like staying connected is, even though it seems most of the time I have more information going in my head than progress coming out, no one here discourages my efforts.

I have a perfectly good computer at home sitting in pieces that I took apart. Not all family members get why I would do that. This forum gets it. If I let it, there is a whole world out there and well meaning family and friends who think it is their job to discourage ones efforts. Being in this forum helps me stay focused and informed and stretches my mind. Here there is experience, excellent information, and people who can help because they have been there. And the forum is always open to suggestions. And maybe something I or someone else says or does or asks or has learned might help someone else.

Hmmm...seems to me if folks learn that you are learning to work on computers that's going to eventually lead them to encourage you so that you can work on their computers.
When I letting on what I was doing, nearly everyone responded positively.

You would think that wouldn't you. But that hasn't exactly been my experience. Might have to do something with being a woman who has never pursued something like this before.
