There isnt a great deal that is new just a bit more polished, uac is a lot better, its got most of the stuff vista has although you have to download some of it as live essentials, bit locker is alright but true crypt is probably better if not as user friendly and you only get that with the top versions, got vista premium (ultimate till couple of days ago) and seven ultimate dual booting, im on vista 99% of time if not more, is it bettr than vista yeah probably would i pay to replace it = would i fu.....not really, xp users hate vista cos its different from what they are used to and vista isnt much different from 7 so try it out before you consider changing your os.

would think min of 1gb memory and check on motherboard makers website see if the board supports it.

I agree with TheSwarm. Windows 7 is basically just Vista with more a more fancy interface and more bugs fixed but aside from that is not really that different from Vista.

Luchi, you could take a look at this page for the requirements.

No I am not agree with you because windows 7 is more faster then windows vista and in windows 7 you got more security then windows vista. so I think windows 7 is different from windows vista.

I am supporting you. Windows 7 is a lot more stable operating system than vista. Window 7 is also very user friendly and fast as compared to vista so most of the people prefer to use window 7 rather than vista.

Most of vista's problems were caused by third party drivers (granted it was because microsoft suddenly started making them be written a certain way.

Without vista Windows 7 would not have been nearly as good as it is.

Vista isn't too bad nowadays as long as its updates are done and the hardware you are using isn't too exotic.

Ive got win7 on 2 machines and vista on 2 machines, both run perfectly fine.

Will

Windows 7 is hardly flawless. Some features feel unfinished; others won't realize their potential without heavy lifting by third parties. And some long-standing annoyances remain intact.
