What is the differences between 32bit systems & 64bit systems? Yeah I know the number is doubled, but suppose one wanted to buy or build a 64 bitter? Is it meant for graphics designers or gamers exclusively? What does it offer the regular PCer? Or can it be used as a regular PC with better capabilities? I am rather foggy of the how's and why's. Can someone give me a crash course what a 64 can do that a 32 cannot, what I should know, where I can research it a bit more, and if it is the future of computer technology?

The 32-bit can only hold 4GB I believe, and 64bit can hold more. Thats the only difference I know, but theres gotta be more.

In theory 64bit is better, in reality most of the development has been with 32bit because more people use it, if your useing windows7 its designed to run 32bit programs on 64bit platform, i didnt have any problems when i used it but i didnt really see any benefits either, some gamers swear by it if you buy retail you will be able to install both, with oem you will have to choose one or the other, if you want to use a copy of the disc to reinstall other peoples computers most will be oem and the disc wont work with a retail key and vice versa, the answer pass, i downloaded a copy off the internet while i decide which to buy.

Your getting 4gb of ram but the computer will only see about 3.25gb with a 32bit os, with 64bit the os would be able to address the full 4gb and a lot more but you are still limited by the amount the board will take, the difference between 3.25 and 4 is nothing never tried more than 4 so cant say, if you really want 64bit you would need more memory to take full advantage of it, i would probably stick to an oem 32bit if i had to choose but gamers may think different.
