Hi, I have an HP Pavilion 6920 that came with 3GB of RAM. If I want to upgrade it to 4GB (2 DIMMs each of 2GB) will Vista recognize it? I was told it would not... Will it recongize the dual channel? Txs.

If your useing a 32 bit windows operating system the most you will see is about 3.2 - 3.4 even if you put 4gb in, check how many sticks youve got in there and their size you might already have 4gb but its only showing 3gb.

I'm using a pavillion a1720n with 3gbs of ram it doesn't seem worth the hassle toadd more ram for as little as you get out of it!

Read they need to be matched pairs to work in dual channel like desktops, but its only what ive read dont take it for gaspel, then again the advantages of dual channel are limited in most programs.

Your computer will recognize the ram, but like it was posted before, you need to have identical pairs to be able to run at the dual channel speed. Best thing to do is to replace all ram, maybe get 2x2gb with the same speed. Maybe even upgrade (see what your motherboard can take) the clock speed 667Mhz -> 800Mhz or 800Mhz -> 1066Mhz.

The improvement in performance will be minimal.

But iv got 6 but tested game play with 4 and i still only use 57% and so if you have spare money like that go ahead, my thought is it isnt it isnt necessary.(halo 2 with music program in back ground used little less than 75 of 3gb)
