Default PC freezes after logon

On my windows 7 Home Premium when I type in my logon password it takes too long. It freezes for about half a minute and sometimes more. It happens right when it switches into the GUI mode. What could the problem be.

well if it works perfect in safe mode its probably a start up program thats doing something it shouldnt be or a bad driver, check in msconfing start programs and go through the lists google if you have to and try to pinpoint the start program causing the slow down, in theory you should be able to stop them all and then start re adding them, when you have rebooted the computer it will warn you that youve stopped programs, w2hen youve found the probem tick dont warn me again and it will stop stowing it on bootup.

Default Try to Format

I didnt heard of this issue before. But I think virus may be the problems or driver are not good. Try to reinstall Windows and then see.

Sorry deleted your link. Didn't look pertinent to the post and not taking any chances ........Daisymae70

harrysehgal, your advice is extremely premature. That is a last resort.
As popeye says there is most likely a startup program causing the issue.
I'd do full scans for any malware, too.
Freezing up can (at times) be a hard drive issue, too....but let's hope not.
