Default Windows Setup cannot detect hard disk!

Hello guys, I have a problem in my loptop. it is not starting and when i am trying to reformat it again, an error occured in detecting its hard drive during bootup setup......

This is the error message. . . .

"Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.
Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involved running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or set up program.

Setup cannot continue. To quit setup, press F3."

System Information:
HP Compaq 6510b
Intel Core 2 Duo Inside, 2.00 Ghz Clock rate, 512 MB RAM Capacity

I am hoping for your help.... Please....

Were you planning to buy a new hard drive? assuming you havnt taken the hard drive out or its worked loose sounds like its packed up, you could try wiping it with dban and doing a fresh install but the chances are unless youve taken the drive out its bollocksed.
