I just was given a new dell desktop with windows xp proffessional on it. when i boot it up i get the message type the password and press enter. i dont have the password and the person who gave me the computer dosent remember it. I don't really need to get into what on the hard drive i would just like to reformat the drive to use the computer, i have inserted the windows xp proffesional reinstallation cd ond rebooted only to get the same message. anyone have any suggestion how to crack this one. |

I don't think this is the long in password is it? like the password to log in? This sounds to me like a BIOS password. heres how to get rid of it. Open the computer's case and look for a battery that looks something like this ![]() then carefully remove the battery and leave it out for about a minute then you can put it back in and try to boot the computer, and it should no longer ask you for the password.
