Default Windows XP Divided Screen

Had my Win XP up today working just fine. Downloaded updates and restarted. Started just fine ran post but when Window XP loaded Screen desktop was split, part on one side part on other and flickering. Icons and text were barely recognizable and text was squiggle. I could shut down from memory because I knew where everything was but wouldn't be able to recognize where system restore might be. Thought updates might have download bad video drivers. Does anyone have any other ideas? Somehow don't think it was a coincidence happened right after updates. Could be wrong. I do actually have a spare video card if you think I should try that.

You're possibly correct about the updates. Try starting it up in safe mode. If it will let you. Then go to control panel and try uninstalling the most recent updates.

It's fine now. Don't know what happened. Went back and restarted it and it corrected itself.

I want to download movies off graboid on to my dvd player recorder from my television and use my computer at the same time. Is this is possible? That is after I connect my pc to my TV. I want to be able to do both. Do I need to call the geek squad?

If I had to guess a new video driver was downloaded and the new driver wasn't loaded properly(required a reboot) and the improperly loaded new driver couldn't detect the refresh and resolution of the monitor so it "guessed" and guessed wrong.

Upon reboot it correctly re detected these values.
